Recruiting solutions for a leisure travel service company.
Client: A global provider of leisure travel services to businesses and consumers; the worldwide leader in vacation exchange and in business for about 35 years with 4,000+ employees worldwide.
Situation: The client decided to relocate their Global Revenue Management & Analytics (GRM&A) team from Indianapolis to New Jersey. The GRM&A team is responsible for inventory management, pricing, exchange program management, balancing inventory across systems, valuations, trading power maintenance and consumer and inventory analytics. Relocating the team resulted in 40 vacant exempt openings ranging from analyst to director level.
Challenge: The recruiting efforts started in October with a January deadline. Most qualified candidates were employed in bonus eligible roles that required them to remain in their position until the end of the year or later, otherwise they would forfeit their bonus.
The GRM&A management team traveled a lot and was in the process of relocating from Indianapolis to New Jersey. Consequently their availability was very limited, making it difficult to schedule candidate interviews.
The client also launched the use of a new applicant tracking system, Taleo, to keep track of all openings. The organization’s human resource and leadership team received minimal training of this new system.
TLL HRC’s Solution: Multiple recruiting sources were used to identify qualified Mathematicians, Statisticians, Economist and other finance subject matter experts. By partnering with the client’s human resource, revenue management and senior management team, we created a recruiting process that allowed us to identify and schedule a large number of candidates of varied skills for all open requisitions. To address the limited availability of management’s schedule, the management team agreed to block out dates on their calendar for all day candidate interviews. And, pre-screened candidates were scheduled for face-to-face interviews with multiple team members. During post-interview debriefing meetings, we met with the teams to share feedback, discuss candidate offers and to decide which team was most appropriate for the new employee.
Result: TLL Human Resource Consulting, Inc.'s full-time Recruiting Consultant helped the client to successfully achieve its goal within their projected budget.
At the end of the first year, only one new hire to the GRM&A team left the organization. By the second year, many of the candidate’s hired in the first year received a promotion for exception performance.
